The primary challenge of this project was defining a feature set amidst broad stakeholder vision. Management envisioned a process modeling application comparable to enterprise standards like Microsoft's Aura Portal, with the added complexity of being white-labeled for third-party sales.
The goal of this project was to architect a web application interface designed to aggregate, search, and classify intellectual property records from global patent databases. In the global IP landscape—where companies manage over 3.4 million patent applications annually—giving engineers, product owners, and legal stakeholders rapid clarity on licensable features is critical to preventing costly infringement. Operating under strict budget limits, the core challenge was designing an intuitive classification system within a flexible, modular framework that could seamlessly adapt as product requirements evolved.
To maximize efficiency and minimize future technical debt, I developed a custom Bootstrap-based UI architecture tailored for high-density data parsing. The design prioritized streamlined search filters, visual tagging, and fast categorization workflows. By creating a clear, modular design system, the codebase remained adaptable through multiple framework upgrades without requiring custom structural overhauls. This future-proof approach minimized maintenance costs, earned strong client praise, and provided an extensible foundation that grew alongside user needs.
